Greece is bracing itself for a fresh cold snap by offering shelters for the cold for the homeless and vulnerable groups. Three central metro stations are set to stay open from January 6-9 as a high-pressure system from Siberia sweeps through Greece, bringing with it sub-zero temperatures.

Heated venues are also operating in central Athens, Koukaki, Pangrati and neighborhoods around the country’s capital. Authorities will offer sleeping bags and other supplies to those who take refuge.
